God’s Lasting Plan for His Favor Man

Micah unpacks what the Lord requires of the righteous man.

TEXT: Micah 6:1&3&7-8 (ESV) 1Hear what the LORD says: Arise, plead your case before the mountains, and let the hills hear your voice. 3“O my people, what have I done to you? How have I wearied you? Answer me! 7Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?” 8He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

  1. MEN MUST CROWD OUT CONTRARY VOICES

Micah 6:1Hear what the LORD says: Arise, plead your case before the mountains, and let the hills hear your voice.

  1. MEN MUST CONFESS ARROGANCE & ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY

Micah 6:2Hear, you mountains, the indictment of the LORD, and you enduring foundations of the earth, for the LORD has an indictment against his people, and he will contend with Israel.

  1. MEN MUST COUND THE COST & MAKE THE GOOD CHOICES

Micah 6:3A“O my people, what have I done to you? …”

            Micah 6:3B”How have I wearied you? Answer me!”

Joshua 24:15And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

  1. MEN GOD DOESN’T WANT WHAT YOU THINK HE WANTS

Micah 6:6-7 6“With what shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before God on high? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? 7Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?”

  1. MEN WHAT DOES GOD REALLY REQUIRE OF US?

Micah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

                        Isaiah 1:18-19 18 “Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.
19If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land;
